چکیده

We investigate the muon neutrino event rate in km neutrino telescopes due to a number of galactic supernova remnants expected on the basis of these objects’ known γ-ray signals. We evaluate the potential of these neutrino signals to exhibit evidence of the sub-dominant neutrino oscillations expected in various neutrino mixing schemes including pseudo-Dirac scenarios and the Exact Parity Model. With ten years’ data, neutrino signals from Sgr A East should either discover or exclude neutrino oscillations governed by a δm parameter in the range 10 to 10 eV. Such a capability is not available to terrestrial or solar system neutrino experiments. Subject headings: acceleration of particles — cosmic-rays — elementary particles: neutrinos — radiation mechanisms: nonthermal — supernova remnants

Decoupling supernova and neutrino oscillation physics with LAr TPC detectors

Core collapse supernovae are a huge source of all flavor neutrinos. The flavor composition, energy spectrum and time structure of the neutrino burst from a galactic supernova can provide information about the explosion mechanism and the mechanisms of proto neutron star cooling. Such data can also give information about the intrinsic properties of the neutrino such as flavor oscillations. One im...

Neutrino signatures of supernova forward and reverse shock propagation

A few seconds after bounce in a core-collapse supernova, the shock wave passes the density region corresponding to resonant neutrino oscillations with the " atmospheric " neutrino mass difference. The transient violation of the adiabaticity condition manifests itself in an observable modulation of the neutrino signal from a future galactic supernova. In addition to the shock wave propagation ef...

Neutrinos from Supernovas and Supernova Remnants

Supernovae (SN) and supernova remnants (SNR) have key roles in galaxies, but their physical descriptions is still incomplete. Thus, it is of interest to study neutrino radiation to understand SN and SNR better. We will discuss: (1) The ∼10 MeV thermal neutrinos that arise from core collapse SN, that were observed for SN1987A, and can be seen with several existing or planned experiments. (2) The...

Supernova neutrino observations: What can we learn?,” astro-ph/0701677

Twenty years after SN 1987A, the vast international programme of experimental neutrino physics and neutrino astronomy suggests that large detectors will operate for a long time. It is realistic that a high-statistics neutrino signal from a galactic SN will be observed. I review some of the generic lessons from such an observation where neutrinos largely play the role of astrophysical messengers...
